You can't prepare for it. You can tell yourself a million times you'll be ok; this is what you want; you'll be strong enough but the reality is- you cant predict the situations you may find yourself in. When the future is unknown, how do you prepare for it?
Well you could be like me and read books that challenge your mental strength, views of life and other perspectives that when you do find yourself faced with unexpected situations or wave of emotions you can apply those tools you've learned or you can throw yourself to the wolves and hope to come out alive. Neither option is bad. Just both are two different ways of living. Over the past 6 months I've read my books, maintained a fairly routined life where I was able to apply some of tools from the books I had read. The thing with that was, my life was so routined that although I couldn't predict the future I knew that no matter which tool I chose to use, the outcome wouldn't be life altering. In other words, my life was one big safety zone. And I'm just going to throw it out there that safety zones are not bad- but if you're not careful they can leave you with out any form of progression in your life. This concept that we need to constantly be evolving and moving forward.
So there i was, routine and all waiting for something more. Silly me to wait around. Things aren't just handed to you. If you want change, be the change. If I didn't like routine, what was the opposite? Throwing myself to the wolves I guess!!
I picked up my life and moved far away from my home, quit my job and really didn't know what to expect. All I knew was that through out this move I was in search of one thing- it wasn't a boyfriend, a group of new friends, having more material things... it was to find direction.
When you get caught up in routine, it becomes easy to lose your purpose. To lose you WHY. You're at the point of doing things because that's what you've always done. And maybe those things don't make sense to you anymore. They don't feed your soul.
On my journey, although it had many mental barriers that came along side it, I was able to seek out what I was after. And you know what, it's ok if it takes time away to gain mental clarity. It's ok to say this isn't the life I want and change it. And more importantly it's ok to get lost in order to be found.
I believe in purpose. I believe we are the creators of our universe and I believe happiness is a choice.
At the end of the day, it didn't matter what anyone said. Good or bad. What mattered was how I felt on the inside. Was my soul happy or was I living to make others happy?
Direction is very powerful word. To seek it, is even more powerful. It can lead to extrodinary destinations if you're willing to take that crazy chance on yourself. Every step depends on you. It is the choice to go backwards or forwards.
