Time- It's a relative term, is it something we can really "run out of?"
When thing's don't go the way we want, or when we are faced with a sudden change nine times out of ten there will always be someone waiting in the wings to swoop down and weigh their opinion on your life.
In my own life, I was recently faced with a sudden change. A change I was not prepared for, but then again... are we ever really prepared for change? probably not because let's face it, the majority of us enjoy the comfort in routine and having our day to day activity be stable.
Stable: A word I love. Stability is my solitude. It keeps me worry free having some semblance of routine in my life. Some live by the seat if their pants and then there is people like me...
So in the wake of my abrupt change, I am told "Camila, you are running out of time with what you are going to do with your life" A phrase that could cripple me, or uplift and motivate me. It comes down to perspective.
I chose to let this phrase inspire me and here's why:
The person who said this to me believes that because I don't have a university degree that I am not successful. That is their perspective on what true success is valued on and that is fine. Who I am to argue with how another person views morals and values? At the end of the day their perception is not the same as mine.
There are three things we have control over in life:
1. The thoughts you think
2. The images you visualize
3. The actions you take
I THINK over the course of my life I have been successful.
I VISUALIZE having a nice home, driving a nice car, and being happy in a career, having a family. I visualize building a life for myself.
I BEHAVE not always according to what I think or visualize.
That last statement there is KEY.
Why? Because I am taking responsibility for my life. The realization that when thing's are not going how I want them too, it's generally because of something I have created. You know that famous equation E + R = O?? If you don't like the outcome then change the response.
"Insanity" the concept of continuing the same behaviour and expecting a different result.
Well if that's the case then I have totally pled insanity a time or seven and guess what? I would go insane time and time again...
Learning- comes from making mistakes. Mistakes I have made that blossomed from my own insanity. First step to being "sane": taking responsibility for you own damn self. That means taking accountability for your thoughts, visions and actions. All three are components in building who you are as a person.
Back to perspective for a minute- "life is not a spectator sport"
Success to me is not found on a piece of paper, it's found in your mind. Being in a true state of happiness. Which in my opinion is a lot harder to conquer then any university exam I've ever taken.
Mindset is very fickle- one second we think we are doing awesome and the next some one says something about how we look, what we do for a living etc... and now, we are crippled by a sense of "failure." When you are absolute about your true being, it won't matter what someone else thinks or says about you because you are definite in your beliefs about who you are.
SO... to sum it all up, no, I am not running out of time... because that would mean time is escaping from me in place of me making the most of each moment. What I choose to do with my moments, is my choice and having the capacity to make my own decisions is empowering. It builds the absolution in my true self by giving me the confidence to take on each life challenge head on, and sometimes i'm facing those obstacles with a shit ton of fear because success and failure- they are not a positive and negative. My perception of the two is the same, POSITIVE.
