A Good Woman
Brush my hair,
Curl my eyelashes,
Am I good woman yet?
Lipstick on,
Eyeshadow thick,
Maybe this will do the trick!
Strut my figure,
But it's not hourglass,
Confidence jaded,
What has society has created?
Eating rations,
To fit thin girl fashions,
Am I a good woman yet?
To materialistic,
Can't take it anymore,
Being phony is such a bore!
Sweats and oversized hoodies,
Make up no more,
Time for this woman to fucking sore,
My family is happy,
My kids are fed,
I'm home each night to tuck them into bed,
I am a good woman.
Cozy blankets and late night movies,
Popcorn and chips can go straight to my thighs,
As long as I'm here to hold my baby when she cries,
I am a good woman.
Kind with my words,
And firm with my actions,
I don't care about your "skinny girl" captions,
A bottle of wine,
A night on the town,
Making memories all year round,
Holding hands with the man I love,
Putting my family beyond and above,
My choice is happiness,
Not how toned I look,
So fed up with the stigma,
I could write a book,
Based on memories I've made,
With my family and friends,
Not the calories I've burned,
Or the money I spend.
I am a good woman
Brush my hair,
